Sustainable Roadways Workshop Draws Good Turnout
Though not the ideal weather for a walking tour of a finished project site, sunny and -8o C didn’t deter participants from a number of Central Alberta municipalities, engineering consulting firms and ready-mix and precast concrete suppliers from attending the Concrete Alberta/CAC Sustainable Roadways Workshop on November 7th in Red Deer. This workshop drew nearly 70 people and featured both local and international subject matter experts on Sustainable Concrete Paving Alternatives. The workshop featured highlights of the 2017 ACI Alberta Chapter Awards of Excellence Winning 67 St Corridor Roundabout Project as well as a number of other presentations on the Concrete Alternate Bid process and the free online resources available to assemble one. One of the key takeaways of interest to many of the municipalities was the enhancement of tax payer value and long term sustainable benefits that can be realized through consideration of alternate approaches to roadway construction. Thank you to all who supported and participated at this event.
